PS2: Devil May Cry 2  JPN  US$68  BUY
When a scheme to revive demons of old runs amok, Dante rages against the legions of hell anew. Along for the ride, a midriff-exposed redhead named Lucia goes medieval on skeletons, demons and others with a pair of wicked looking swords. While Dante seems to have a penchant for ballistic weaponry, he also slashes swords with the best of them. New to Dante's repertoire are a number of gravity defying moves including wall walking and acrobatic flourishes which add dramatic flair to his killing style.

PS2: Get Backers Dakkanoku: Dakkandayo! Zenin Shuugou!  JPN  $60  BUY
The Get Backers team consisting of Midou Ban and Amano Ginji star in a cel-shaded side-scrolling action game where the boys use their fighting skills and special attacks to take on various retrieval missions and gangs of goons. When backed into a corner, Midou Ban uses his snake bite move to powerful effect while Ginji throws streams of electrical force to beat back the odds. In addition to the dynamic duo, four other characters from the anime may be chosen as your onscreen protagonist. Similar to old school games where armies of foes run into your punches and kicks, Get Backers takes the heroes through their paces and ends each level with a boss who does special attacks and generally lasts longer than his underlings.

Despite a respite from the oppressive chill over the weekend, subfreezing winds blow once again across our fair metropolis. An outside pipe burst in our office building over the weekend and we were greeted with scalding hot water splattering over the parking lot this morning. Since the water and boiler had to be shut down for the plumbers to replace the burst pipe, all heat and hot water is now off in the entire building. As a result, there is little difference between the outside temperature and inside at the moment. Now we know how the squirrels and seagulls from last week felt.
